Striker Asamoah Gyan has won safc.com’s Star Man award after his impressive shift at Stoke City last week.
The Ghana international scored a goal and set up another but couldn’t prevent the Black Cats going down 3-2 in the Potteries.
Gyan secured his second poll victory of the season – ironically the first was also against Stoke – with 21.9% of the vote, just ahead of fellow goalscorer Kieran Richardson.
Defender Phil Bardsley finished third with new boys Sulley Muntari and Stephane Sessegnon fourth and fifth respectively.
Gyan’s win moves him into third place in the overall rankings behind leader Ahmed Elmohamady and second-placed Steed Malbranque.
