Agric extension officers have been urged to support local farmers to venture more into organic farming to increase their incomes and promote healthy lifestyles amongst the population.
Vice President of Credent Organics, Kumar Papil believes encouraging more local farmers will enable them tap into the huge ready market in the world.
He was addressing a training workshop for nineteen agric extension officers in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti region on organic farming practices.
Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah reports the world’s leading input manufacturer is undertaking feasibility studies to enter the Ghanaian market and has already secured a five acre land for the purpose of constructing a plant there.
Mr Papil said demand for organically produced products had far outstripped supply – a situation Ghanaian farmers could take advantage of.
