Anthony Annan Shocked By Quick Schalke Swoop

    Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan says he is surprised by the pace of negotiations that landed him deal with German side Schalke.
    The enforcer joined Schalke from Norwegian side Rosenborg following quick negotiations on Friday.
    GHANAsoccernet broke the news on Friday that he had warned Rosenborg that he will quit the club after they turned down an offer from Sevilla. Few hours later he was whisked away to Germany where he underwent a medical before sealing the dealing.
    Annan admits he was surprised by how fast the deal was agreed. “It all went very fast, but I am very happy to be playing in such a big league now,” said the 24-year-old midfielder, for whom a €2.5m fee has been agreed.
    “Schalke have made me feel very welcome.” The player spent just over two seasons at Rosenborg, the Norwegian champions – making six UEFA Europa League appearances this term. Previously he had spells with IK Start and Stabæk Fotball.
    Schalke, who sold Ivan Rakiti? to Sevilla FC on Friday, travel to Valencia CF for their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg encounter on 15 February.
