The Ghana Football Association has donated US$ 20,000 to the country’s representatives engage in this year’s Caf Inter-clubs competitions. Aduana Stars and AshantiGold will share the money in a bid to cushion their financial purge ahead of this weekend’s preliminary qualifying round.
Debutants Aduana face Moroccan side Wydad Athletic in Casablanca in the Caf Champions League and AshGold travel to neighbouring Ivory Coast as guests of Sewe Sports.
Ghanaian clubs in the past have pulled out of the competition for lack of financial support.
Giants Heart of Oak withdrew their participation from the Champions League in 2009 citing financial constraints while Heart of Lions were banned by the continent’s governing body after pulling out of the Confederation Cup in 2003.
