Inter Milan coach Leonardo has insisted that Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari will not leave the club despite handing in a transfer request.
The 26-year-old midfielder workhorse reportedly requested to leave the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after he was dropped from last weekend’s Serie A clash with Bologna.
That followed a furious bust-up with the former AC Milan boss when he was substituted in a Coppa Italia game with Genoa on Wednesday.
Leonardo claims there will be no more arrivals in January but when asked about Muntari’s transfer request, he said:
“I think that if someone were to leave then a replacement would come in, like with Samuel and Ranocchia. But I repeat, now is not the time to be thinking about that.”
“But I repeat, now is not the time to be thinking about that. At the moment Muntari is available and he’s in good shape, so there’s no need to think about the transfer market,” he concluded.
English Premier League pair Everton and Sunderland as well as Spanish side Sevilla have expressed interest in signing the Ghana international.
