Tamale Chief Unhappy With Attack On Police

Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan

The Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan has charged the Northern Regional Police Command to clamp down on the activities of people he described as “recalcitrants” who are trying to destabilize the fragile peace of the area.
He condemned the alleged attack on policemen by suspected NDC foot soldiers who resisted an exercise carried out over the weekend to arrest reckless motorists in the Tamale metropolis as directed by the Inspector General of Police Paul Tawiah Quaye.
Naa Dakpema also expressed his deepest concern about the spate of lawlessness that is gaining notoriety in Tamale and its environs and stressed the need to curtail that phenomenon.
The Tamale Chief was addressing the Northern Regional Police Commander DCOP Roy Awuni and a representative of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council at his palace.
He alleged that a prominent person has established an armed robbery gang that is terrorizing commuters between 12am to 2am within the enclave of the business capital city.
Naa Dakpema Dawuni reiterated his unflinching support to the security agencies to maintain law and order in the metropolis and beyond.
He however cautioned politicians and opinion leaders against interfering in the operations of the security agencies.
DCOP Roy Awuni assured residents of Tamale that his administration will do everything possible to protect their lives and property.
He thus appealed to them to cooperate with the police by giving out information that will lead to weeding out bad nuts in the society.
