Some District and Municipal Chief Executives sacked by the President have told Citi News they did not deserve dismissal.
Rarely do dismissed public officials openly complain but it appears these ones have been badly hurt and have decided to break the norm.
The Asunafo South and the Akuapim South Chief Executives Fleance Danso and Dr Osei Bonsu Twum told Citi News their dismissal was surprising.
They were part of thirteen Chief Executives who were relieved of their duties by President Mills on Thursday January 13.
Mr. Fleance Danso’s dismissal came at a time when he was donating some items and money to an NDC party office in his area.
“If I deserve to have been removed then I can say that I am not fit for the position. I was working alright and have devoted all my time, my energy and everything for the party. And I am working for the betterment of the party and the district as a whole so I don’t see why this should happen to me. Even yesterday when the news came, I was from the Regional Minister’s office heading towards my district. This decision though it has come, let’s takes it like that” he said.
Dr. Osei Bonsu, the dismissed DCE for Akuampim South told Citi News he served his nation well and perhaps did not deserve a sack.
“I don’t know the intention but I think I have served my nation well and my municipality well and I even served my Regional Minister very well. I was obedient to him and everybody knows that for a fact. And I supported the RCC anytime we were called upon. But it is the president who determines so I am still waiting for further directions” he said.
Meanwhile, the dismissed Chief Executive for Offinso South Municipal Assembly, Victor Amponsah, told Citi News he could not fault the President’s prerogative to hire and fire.
Although the dismissals did not come with explanations, suggestions are that the affected officials were not sensitive to the concerns of party loyalists who have often demonstrated against the M/DCEs and called for their removals.
