Sulley Muntari will be recalled to the Ghana national team, Black Stars new coach Goran Stevanovic has told Ghanasoccernet.com. The out-of-favour midfielder has not played for the national team since the World Cup in South Africa because of disciplinary problems.
He was axed from the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations squad after falling out with previous coach Milovan Rajevac. Several clashes with the Serbian manager during the World Cup and his unceremonious departure from the tournament in South Africa led his to latest axing.
But the Inter Milan player has been forgiven his past indiscretions but he must prove he has changed and is committed to the Black Stars. “I am ready to give Muntari a new chance. It is a new day so it is fair to say let me hear him and give him a new opportunity,” Stevanovic told Ghanasoccernet.com.
“I will travel to Italy to talk to him and assure that I am giving him a chance to prove himself. “That doesn’t mean I am compromising on discipline. Discipline is key for me. Let me meet Muntari and talk to him. “He has got exceptional qualities and he will be back to the team if he meets my expectations.”
