West Akyem MCE congratulates assembly members

    Mr Seth Otchere, West Akyem Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), on Friday congratulated the newly elected assembly members in the municipality, at the just ended District Assembly and Unit Committee elections.
    He also commended the electorate for the matured manner they conducted themselves during the exercise in spite of the persistent postponements of the polls by the Electoral Commission.
    Mr Otchere who was speaking with the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Asamakese in the Eastern Region said he was ready to work with all members of the assembly irrespective of their political, ethnic or religious affiliations.
    He therefore appealed to the members who would be inaugurated soon to give him a helping hand to steer the affairs of the municipality to ensure the speedy development of their communities.
    The MCE said since the National Democratic Congress took office two years ago, the municipality had seen a lot of development.
    He said the assembly had put up a number of educational infrastructure, improved health delivery and sanitation and constructed roads in the urban and rural areas.
    Mr Otchere said the assembly had declared 2011 as an “action year” during, which more developments projects would be undertaken to improve the lot of the people.
    He mentioned some of the projects as classroom blocks in some selected communities to end the shift system and construction of health posts and clinics to improve health delivery.
    The MCE said one major project was the construction of a lorry park, which would soon be completed to ease traffic congestion.
    He urged the assembly members to do away with their political affiliations and rather think about the welfare of the municipality in order to move West Akyem forward in the right direction.
