Nigeria U-20 midfielder Ramon Azeez has said that the Flying Eagles are not in any panic mood ahead of their imminent clash against reigning world U-20 champions Ghana and African youth power houses Cameroon and the Gambia at the CAF U-20 championship in Libya.
Azeez, who has been chased by English giants Manchester United and Manchester City plays football at Future Pro Football Academy in Nigeria and was part of the silver winning U-17 Nigerian team at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2009.
“I’m not bothered about the teams in our group,” Azeez told Complete Sports. “There is absolutely no panic whatsoever among us. We cannot qualify for the U-20 World Cup without playing these countries anyway.
“The chief coach is calm and he realised that other teams are worried about playing against Nigeria.”
The 18-year-old who was voted third best player at the U-17 tournament knows that another brilliant performance at an U-20 competition could earn him a lucrative contract and perhaps a call up to the Super Eagles.
“We know it’s an opportunity for us to get good offers from clubs across Europe and also show that we are good enough for the senior national team. We have our eyes on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil,” Azeez said.
