Former Ghana youth international Nafiu Iddrisu claims a move to the United Arab Emirates nearly jeopardized his playing career.
Iddrisu, who hit a rich vein of scoring form in 2007 with AESC Mimosas, signed a three-year deal for Al Dhafra despite offers from some European clubs.
He was later sold to another Emirate side Sharjah where he could glitter and his woes were further deepened by an injury which kept him on the sidelines for long.
“When I was going there, my coach was not happy about that. He told me the league over there is not competitive but I did not listen to him and when I went there, I saw it’s true and that is why name and everything went off,” Iddrisu said.
The 24-year-old joined Asante Kotoko for the second round of the league and hopes to recapture his form.
