BA Stars head coach Karim Zito is unsure the acquisition of Kweku Essien can aid their Premier League campaign this season.
Zito coached Essien when he won the Most Valuable Player award in the 2007 season while at King Faisal but the midfielder has been a big flop since he moved abroad.
He has had stints with six different clubs including Austrian side Sturm Graz and German sides Hertha Berlin, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Essien and 15 others have joined the Sunyani-based side to aid their faltering campaign.
“I have not seen him since he joined us and so will be pre-mature to say his inclusion in the team will turn round our season. He is a good player but I haven’t seen his physique in a long time,” Zito said.
”I coached him while at King Faisal but a lot has gone under the bridge since 2007. We brought in some new players but that’s not enough to guarantee we will escape relegation.” BA Stars are at the foot of the table with a paltry 8 points from 15 matches.
