The Central Region branch of the governing National Democratic Congress is urging the founder of the party to continue criticizing the Mills administration.
According to the party, the criticisms by ex-President Rawlings is winning massive supporters for the NDC, particularly in the region. The party’s Regional Communications Director, Allotey Jacobs made this known at a media briefing in Cape Coast.
Joy FM reports Allotey Jacobs as saying the Party had performed extremely well in recently held local assembly elections and attributed that performance to former President Rawlings’ incessant attacks on the Mills administration. “Rawlings’ effusions against the Mills administration is winning more souls, more opponents who initially had a different impression and perception about Prof Mills [for the party]. I wish that Rawlings will continue to [attack] the Mills-administration for people to know that Mills is a man of himself and nobody can think for him,” Mr Jacobs said.
He said while the assembly elections are non-partisan the main political parties – NDC and NPP – were heavily involved in the elections. Consequently, “some of us were involved to ensure that we get the right people to assist the government to deliver its mandate.”
Mr Allotey Jacobs maintained that his party won 80 per cent of the assembly seats, predicting that was good omen and an indication the NDC is well on course to rout the NPP in the 2012 elections.
