President John Atta Mills has written to the Speaker of Parliament informing the House to insert the name of Stan Dogbe into a previous list of presidential staffers on which, according to the President’s letter, Mr Dogbe’s name, along with three others, was omitted.
The President’s remedy letter made reference to his July 30 letter, which provided Parliament with a list of presidential staffers without the names of Presidential Aide Stan Dogbe, Presidential Advisor Professor Francis Dodoo, Presidential Staffer Mathias Akotia who heads the Brand Ghana office and Office Administrator Helen Annan.
The letter, signed by President Mills, appealed to the Speaker of the House to accept the letter with ‘assurances of [his] highest esteem.’
The omission of Mr Dogbe’s name stirred commotion in Parliament a couple of weeks ago when MP for Effia Kwesimintim, Joe Baidoe-Ansah, alleged fraudulent conduct against Mr Dogbe for allegedly parading himself as a Presidential Aide and usurping the position of Information Service Director, to collect GH¢169,000 purportedly meant to educate Ghanaians on the 2010 budget.
The money was said to have been spent on buying hampers for journalists and paid articles.
Mr Dogbe apparently could not account for the GH¢169,000.
The Effia Kwesiminstim MP accused Mr Dogbe of being a ‘dubious character’ who needed to be probed.
Mr Dogbe rebuffed the accusations several times as false. Stan Dogbe told Citi Fm that the President’s letter had vindicated him.
“There is no way I would hold myself up and perform roles for government and for that matter the Presidency when I have not been appointed.
“So I think that this letter to parliament is indeed just confirming that indeed Mr Dogbe is an appointee of the government,” he said.
