Former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz and Pedro Mendes raved about the support Portugal got at the Wanderers Stadium.
Queiroz says he does not have words to describe the atmosphere while midfield strongman Mendes reckons playing today “was a pleasure”.
Portugal beat Mozambique 3-0 in the Goodwill Cup in front of a full house, estimated to be around 25 000.
Hugo Almeida scored twice and Danny once.
“The support tonight was unbelievable, just unbelievable. I don’t know which words I can begin to use to describe it,” Quieroz says.
“I want to say a huge thank you to the Portuguese supporters. And the others, if they are not Portuguese, but supported our boys anyway then thank you to them too.”
Mendes added: “Yeah there’s a big Portuguese community in South Africa and for them to come and support us is a pleasure for them and it’s a pleasure for us to play in front of them. It’s really good for this World Cup.”
