England striker Wayne Rooney admits he cannot wait to take on the USA on Saturday after scoring in the Three Lions’ final World Cup warm up.
The Manchester United hotshot scored his first goal in six games for the Three Lions as he fired home a well-taken volley in the 3-0 win over the Platinum Stars on Monday.
After coming on at half-time, Rooney also provided the assist for Joe Cole’s goal and the striker was happy with his contribution.
He told Sky Sports News: “It was a good run out, we needed to get the game in and to play 45 minutes felt good so I was happy.”
Asked if he got out of it what he needed, he replied: “Yes I think so. I would have liked to have got a bit more of a game but I was happy with the 45 minutes.”
The star striker is now raring to go ahead of the World Cup Group C opener against the United States on 12 June.
“We are ready – these are preparation games for us for the big one now coming up on Saturday.
“I just can’t wait now, the sooner it comes, the better.”
