Israeli Police Clash With Illegal Settlers

At least eight Israeli police officers have been lightly injured after clashing with 150 Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

The fighting erupted on Tuesday after Israeli officers demolished two buildings put up by settlers without authorization.

The settlers hurled rocks at police vehicles and tried to puncture their tires, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP.

Public radio said 10 settlers suffered injuries from baton blows and tear gas inhalation. Dozens of settlers are also reported to have been arrested.

Earlier in November, Israel announced a 10-month halt to illegal settlement construction work in the West Bank after months of international pressure.

The settlement construction on occupied Palestinian territories is in violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 446, 452 and 465.

The international community has repeatedly condemned the violations and has called on Tel Aviv to halt the construction work.
