The Head of Marketing and Public Relations of uniBank, Richard Osei Anane has called for more support for the Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) operating across the country, saying the development of the SME sector will create more jobs.

According to him, the SMEs have the
potential of absorbing many employed graduates.
‘At uniBank, we focus more on the development of the SME sector and that is why at uniBank more than 60 percent of our portfolio goes to the SME sector, so that is where our focus is.

The SME sector constitutes more than 80 percent of the businesses that are in Ghana, so if we channel more of our resources to support players in this sector, we will be helping to improve the economic development of the

country.’
Richard Osei Anane was speaking in an interview with the DAILY GUIDE after uniBank made a donation to the Operation Mango Tree Orphanage at Zaare, a surburb Bolgatanga.

The uniBank team donated some used clothing and cash of GHC5,000 to help run the orphanage, which has 45 children.

The uniBank team promised to support the orphanage in other areas including investment.

The proprietor of the Orphanage, Laadi Ayine, commended uniBank for the support and promised to continue to support the orphanage in other important areas that could eventually make the home self-sustaining.

The Operation Mango Tree Orphanage, formerly known as Mama Laadi Orphange, is an initiative of Afrikid, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), which accommodates children rescued from the streets, shrines and other areas that pose danger to them.
