The Military Pensions Board on Wednesday solicited the cooperation of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission for improved welfare for military retirees.
The Chairman of the Board, Air Cdr. Mohammed Dabo, made the appeal in Abuja when he paid a courtesy visit on the Chairman of the Commission, Chief Richard Egbule.
Debo said with the cooperation of the Commission, the plight of pensioners would be adequately addressed.
He also solicited the Commission’s cooperation on the review of military retirees’ pension, saying it would go a long way to ameliorate their plight.
“I am here to solicit the cooperation of the Commission to ensure that military pensioners are well taken care of in the area of pension review.
“There is the need for us to work together to achieve a common goal which, I believe, is the target of the Commission,” he said.
Responding, Egbule said such collaboration among government agencies would enhance free flow of information and exchange of ideas.
He said that such relationship would help government to achieve its objectives of providing better living conditions for the citizenry.
Egbule said that both the NSIWC and the Military Pensions Office had worked together over the years to ensure that military pensioners lived comfortably.
He, however, advised the Board to channel its requests to the Commission through the appropriate quarters to avoid delays in handling such matters.
