Nigerian midfielder Fegor Ogude had a spectacular debut at Russian side, Amkar Perm, scoring two goals in the 5-1 Premier Liga home victory against FC Volga on Monday.
The 26-year-old Nigeria international needed just four minutes to open his scoring account for Amkar, when he beat Volga’s Sergei Pareiko from 10 yards with a first-time shot.
The visitors equalised on 31 minutes thanks to Luton Shelton, whose volley found its way into the net, following a corner kick.
But Bulgarian Georgi Peev restored the one-goal lead for Amkar before half-time from the penalty spot in the 37th minute.
Ogude scored his second goal in the 80th minute, when he precisely headed the ball in from six yards off a corner kick. Maxim Kanunnikov scored the fourth, also heading the ball past Pareiko in the 88th minute, while the fifth goal was courtesy of Volga defender Maciej Kowalczyk, who made a poor clearance and hit the ball with a sliding tackle into his own goal two minutes later.
Ogude joined Amkar from Norwegian side Vålerenga Oslo in January. He has played 16 international matches for the Super Eagles, most recently in the 3-0 loss to Spain in the FIFA Confederations Cup last summer.
