Bauchi State Governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has dismissed speculations that he was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress.
The governor accused his political detractors of spreading falsehood in a desperate attempt to cast him in a bad light.
Yuguda, who spoke yesterday from Abuja, the nation’s capital, maintained that he had no plan of leaving the ruling Peoples Democratic Party for the opposition, APC.
He explained that he was focused on providing leadership for the people of Bauchi State as well as continue to mobilize support for President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Bauchi governor noted that his unalloyed support for the president made it imperative for him to join other well-meaning Nigerians to mobilise support for him.
His words: “Let it be known to those who did not know that I remain one of the unrepentant loyalists of President Goodluck Jonathan and I will continue to work with him even after he might have left office as our President.
“It is also a known fact that since Jonathan became President I have been one of his most consistent supporters. What then am I going to do in the APC, as the tale bearers are insinuating?
“Over the years, I have used the solid political structures I have developed to work hard for Jonathan’s success in my state and I will continue to work with him in whatever capacity he desires and nobody can stop us”, Yuguda stressed.
He expressed optimism that he would not need to defect to any other political platform should he decide to run for any office in the next political dispensation because the PDP remains the best platform to realize any such ambition.
Yuguda also said he was not unaware of the antics of some self-seeking politicians who believe they were better positioned to actualise their evil plots by soiling the relationship between him and President Jonathan.
He, therefore, warned such politicians to desist because such antics would lead them nowhere.
