Kotoko central defender Ahmed Adams has denied with vehemence that he caused the controversial spot kick in the Hearts-Kotoko game.

Hearts won the game 1-0 courtesy a spot kick in the latter stages of their  league fixture in Accra, to end their close to a decade winless streak against Kotoko.

The referee’s decision (Samuel Sucker) has since stoked controversy among the football populace.

Many, particularly those from the Porcupine family are of the view that the ball was nowhere near the ‘culprit’s hand.

The ‘culprit’ has denied and questioned the referee’s decision saying, “I was hugely disappointed in the referee in all honesty. The ball never hit my hand. I went for the block with my back so I was shocked when he awarded that penalty.”

“It is a decision we can never forget. It has cost us three points to our bitterest rivals and that is really painful.”

Ahmed however believes the decision could be one of the errors in the game.

“He is a human being and is bound to make mistakes as we all do. So we can pardon him. The problem arises when such mistakes are repeated,” he added.
