Samini @ 10

Samini has announced a number of charity projects that he will be embarking on to climax his 10 th anniversary celebration in the music industry.

Samini, who is by far Ghana’s most consistent dancehall artiste, has been able to maintain the standard he created some years back in the music industry.

After the release of hit songs upon hit songs, Samini is still counted as one of the best when it comes to dancehall music in Ghana.

According to Samini, celebrating such a milestone gives him the opportunity to give back to society in his own small way, adding ‘It has become imperative that l undertake a project that would be beneficial to Ghanaians, and after very long research and consultations, I found something I am passionate about just the way I am about my music.’

He disclosed that his foundation, Samini Light A Million Lives, is a very ambitious project, aimed at distributing one million solar lanterns across the length and breadth of the country.

‘It is important to take social responsibility to the next level where it becomes social investment. As a kid, I had always fancied the idea of using the sunlight to generate light so it is this childhood dream that led to this project,’ he said.

Samini also disclosed his partnership Ecotect Green Limited, a company that has been contracted to establish a solar assembling plant in Ghana so that all the one million solar lanterns would be assembled in Ghana.

Samini stressed that he has also taken the initiative to create opportunities for people to learn how to become solar technicians so they could service all the lanterns in case they become faulty.

He said, ‘This laudable project will require the support of corporate Ghana and all donor agencies.’

Emmanuel Samini, who hails from Wa in the upper West Region, was born in 1982 to Mr G.A Samini and Theresa Nusala.

He had his basic and primary education at Holy Family Basic School and then continued at St Margaret Mary Secondary School, Dansoman, for his secondary education.

He has lived in Dansoman since he was nine years and that was when he realised the singing potential in himself.

And now with just 10 years in the music industry in Ghana, he has won the admiration of most music critics in Ghana.

With just a number of albums to his credit, the name Samini is one of the commonest keywords on the lips of many music fans in Ghana.

He has featured on a lot of tracks with other musicians (both released and unreleased).

Samini has performed outside Ghana in countries like Canada, UK, Holland and Italy.

He has a whole ‘signature tune’ to himself ‘Kpooi’.
