Jerry Akaminko Denies Being Neglected By GFA After Injury

Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko has dispelled recent media reports that the Ghana Football Association neglected him after an ankle injury ruled him out of the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil during the Black Stars final preparatory match against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.

The former Heart of Lions center-back says team officials were in constant contact with him even when the team moved to Brazil, contrary to earlier reports that he was left to his fate after the heartbreaking injury.

The Eskisehirspor star was ruled out of action for 3 months after he picked up an ankle injury on May 31st is in Turkey continuing with his rehabilitation process ahead of the new Spor Toto Super Lig season.

“It is not true that I ever said they (Black Stars officials) don’t check up on me. Even the assistant coach (of the Black Stars) Maxwell Konadu called me (on phone) today. I am making progress in my recovery and that’s what matters,” Akaminko told Campionesport.com.

Akaminko is epected to make full revery in six weeks time but the defender says he has already started running and kicking and might return to active football earlier than expected.
