The much-awaited Accra street carnival dubbed ‘My Culture Rocks’, which was originally scheduled for June 28-29, has been postponed till a new date is fixed.

According to the organisers of the event, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the postponement of the event has come about due to unforeseen challenges that the Ministry is currently facing.

The event, BEATWAVES has learnt, is aimed at diversifying the country’s tourism, cultural and creative arts products, and use it as a tool to create employment and income opportunities for Ghanaians.

The Ministry would again use the event as an incubator for creative industries, skills development and providing individuals with creative opportunities.

It is one of the many cultural events that the Ministry is using to increase the attractiveness of the country for tourism and potential investors.

The street carnival is also aimed at creating an annual platform to bring together and encourage the participation of music performers and various stakeholders in the creative sector.

‘The Ministry, therefore, apologises for the inconveniences that might arise with this postponement.

A new date would be communicated as soon as possible,’ the Ministry added.
