US coach Jurgen Klinsmann has tagged the Black Stars-Yanks World Cup tie as knockout.

The Americans have been seriously discussing Ghana since organisers of the soccer festival Federation of International Football (FIFA) pitted the two against each other in Group G for this month’s World Cup.

Indications are that, the Klinsmann men are bent on applying the brakes on the Black Stars, having played second fiddle to the Africans in succession.

Last week, some US fans were captured with placards with inscription ‘beat Ghana for three points’, an indication of their quest to pay Ghana Back in their own coin.

The Natal meeting on June 16 would be the two sides third meeting in the same competition, and the US trainer has consistently revealed his desire to brush aside Ghana.

He has resolved to pick all the points from the Kwesi Appiah men to guarantee his survival in the group described by many as tight.

The former German international told ESPN, ‘It’s pretty much just like a knockout game anyways.

‘We know if we can get the three points (against) Ghana, we put ourselves in a very good position for the next game against Portugal in Manaus, in the Amazon.’

He added, ‘Therefore it is very, very crucial we have a good start.’

The former German international has tipped his native country and Portugal as the pre-tournament favourites to advance in group G.
