He was combative and passed well. He was assured, and slightly conservative in defence. He was only found in the opposition box from the hour mark, but that suggests a maturity and gradual acclimatisation to international football now he is compete with Harrision Afful.

While he was perhaps fortunate to get away with a clumsy challenge in the area on Arjen Robben, Sumaila was however combative and didn’t allow Van Persie too much to operate.
1.0 / 5 Rabiu Mohammed – Failed to win crucial 50-50 balls in midfield for the Black Stars. He was very slow in winning tackles and didn’t offer much other than athleticism in midfield, as he didn’t appear to have the technical quality to cause any problems.
1.5 / 5 Michael Essien – Like his holding midfield Partner, Michael Essien was slow in winning most of the 50-50 balls in midfield. But the AC Milan man put himself around well and set an example as captain, breaking up play in the midfield third late in the first half.
2 / 5 Kwadwo Asamoah – The Juventus man had a terrible first half, as he barely tracked back to support Jeffry Schlupp in defence. He however tracked back and covered well in the second half when drafted in central midfield, as well as arriving at the back post well to challenge for headers.
