Four accused persons including one police constable have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping and hanging two teen girls in northern India.
According to a deputy inspector-general of police, R.K.S. Rathore, the deadly attack happened Tuesday night at a village in Uttar Pradesh state’s Budaun district.
The bodies of the sisters, after allegedly gang-raped and murdered, were found hanging from a tree in Katra village of the district.
CNN gathered from a police source that the victims were 14 and 16-years-old and were cousins.

The families of the girls have accused three of the suspects of rape and murder. While the police constable, who has been arrested over allegations that he sided with the suspects and delayed the registration of the case.
“We have arrested a constable along with 3 others,” said Superintendent of Police, City, Man Singh Chauhan. Condemning the incident, National Commission of Women (NCW) member Nirmala Samant, said: “Its a horrific crime, we will be sending a team there to investigate matter.”
“Government has promised that they will provide women safety. But it has not fulfilled yet.Till the government doesn’t give the example of protection for girls from rape, molestation. Such kind of incident will go on,” she added.
Few days ago, a pregnant woman was also reported to have been stoned to death in Pakistan by members of her family for allegedly marrying a man she loved.
