Sergio Garcia to undergo treatment on knee injury


The Spaniard pulled out of the BMW PGA Championship on Thursday after suffering the same problem that plagued him at the Open de Espana the previous week.

Garcia shot a one-over round of 73 at Wentworth, but was forced to withdraw after experiencing pain through the last few holes.

On Friday, the world number seven took to his official Twitter account to provide an update on the situation ahead of the the US Open, which is due to begin at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina on June 12.

“(I) have an edema on the top of my kneecap and some cartilage on the left side of it that gives me pain,” he said.

“(I need) treatment for two weeks to be ok for US Open.”
