Mahatma Otoo scored a wonderful goal to hand a hard-fought 2-1 win to Sogndal FF over FK Brann in a Western Derby game in Norwegian top-flight on Tuesday evening.
The home side took the lead after just five minutes when Mahatma Otoo slot home an overhead kick before Peter Strand tapped in from close range before the break.
Jakob Orlov reduced deficit three minutes after the break, but Bergeners never managed to enter the settlement.
FK Brann have not won against Sogndal in Fosshaugane for 12 years, and it was clear that Sogndal would improve the statistics further on Tuesday night.
Sogndal FF ran over the visitors in the opening 15 minutes , and as expected it was through a set piece that brought their first goal.
Taijo Teniste threw a long throw into the penalty area of Brann and the rebound eventually went to Mahatma Otoo’s way, whose well-timed overhead kick was on point to register his 5th league goal of the season.
Otoo’s is part of Ghana’s stand-by list for the 2014 World Cup.
