Spirit of volunteerism can unlock employment opportunities

The teeming unemployed people in Ghana should to stop looking up to the government for solutions to their joblessness because such interventions would not be forthcoming.

This is the caution of management consultant, Marilyn Owusu, who believes the current economic trend does not point to a government that would be able to deliver on job creation for majority of the people.

She cited the rising utility and fuel cost, dwindling fortunes of industry and general economic downturn as challenges that militate against formal employment opportunities.

Marilyn rather wants the young Ghanaians to explore their creativity and innovation as assets to access opportunities in the economy.

“Look at your skills, look at your core competence, look at what you can achieve and create something for yourself,” she encouraged the unemployed.

The Managing Director of ACE Consult also believes development a spirit of volunteerism can open doors for young graduates.

Marilyn says there are job prospects in taking up attachment and internment positions with a mindset and an attitude of marketing worthy personal contribution to an organization.
