Asamoah Gyan and Castro win Highlife Song of the Year at the 2014 VGMA


The year 2014 will has been very good so far for Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan in almost all aspects of his life.

The skipper of the Black Stars together with his singing partner Castro’d’ Destroyer, won an award in the early hours of this morning at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2014 for the category of Best Highlife Song of the Year.

The song ‘Odo Pa’ which also features Kofi Kinata managed to hold its own following stiff competition by Adult Music – Kwabena Kwabena ft Samini, Love – R2Bees, Metanfo – Bisa Kdei and Break Into 2 – Kumi Guita.

Due to his presence with his club, Baby Jet, as he is known in the music industry was not able to make it to the event which took place at the International Conference Centre in Accra. Castro and Kofi Kinata on the other hand were there to receive the award.

From all indications, the Ghana skipper is moving from grace to grace in his twin careers, football and music.

Gyan who is gunning for a third goal king award with Club side Al-Ain is also ready to add the qualification to the semifinal of the World Cup to his rich list of achievements this year.”
