Ghana coach Appiah admits 2015 AFCON group tough, warns against under-rating opponents

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has warned the Black Stars against underrating their opponents in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers   insisting they have been handed a tough group.

The Black Stars drew Guinea, Togo and a yet-to-be determined opponent in Group E http://www.ghanasoccernet.com/ghana-handed-tough-2015-africa-cup-nations/  for the eliminators to the finals which will be hosted by Morocco.

Ghana, who have reached the semi-final stage of the Nations Cup since 2008, are tipped dominate the pool.

That’s because both Togo and Guinea could not qualify for the last edition held in South Africa where Ghana finished fourth but their hunger to return to the competition could spur them on.

But Appiah says they could be in for a shock if they underestimate the firepower of their opponents.

“If you look at African football now, West African countries are doing well and so it is difficult to rule anybody out,” Appiah told  Africanfootball.com http://www.africanfootball.com

“There are no longer small countries and so all we need to do is to prepare well for the challenge.”

The six group matches will be played between September 5 and November 19, 2014.

Seven Group winners, seven Group runners-up and the best third-placed side will qualify for the tournament.
