Dansoman police detain security man over ritual murder of 8-year-old-boy

The Dansoman Police in Accra have detained one out of three security men arrested yesterday in connection with the alleged ritual killing of an-eight-year old boy in the vicinity.

Speaking to Joy News’ Michaella Anderson, the Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Antwi Tabi said the security man is under detention because he has information which is crucial for the police to investigate the issue.

According to the Divisional Police Commander, the detained security man works with a company that had constructed a new building block, which is yet to be handed over to the school.

He said, a visit to the crime scene indicated that the detained security man resided in the newly constructed building, which is close to where the body of the boy was found in a sewerage tank.

Superintendent Antwi Tabi said the detained security man will be the right person to assist the police in their investigations.

“That is why he could not be released that day”, the divisional Commander explained.

Furthermore, Superintendent Antwi Tabi noted that the suspect may be arraigned before the court today to be remanded to assist in further investigations into the issue or be released from police custody.

The deceased, Nana Yaw Buabeng was last seen Easter Sunday, when he was sent on an errand by the mother.

On the same day, he was seen in the company of two strangers; a man and a woman, who allegedly bought him fried rice.

He was declared missing late Sunday but his decapitated body was found last Tuesday, April 22, within the Ebenezer Presby Secondary School compound with his head and genitals cut off.

Police have so far questioned six people, including four security men, who keep watch at the school.

The Assistant Headmaster of the school as well as a pastor, said to be a friend of the family, have also been questioned.
