Teachers’ credit union to get new offices

Work has started on a two-storey office complex for the Sunyani Area Teachers Co-operative Credit Union Limited (SATCCU).

Addressing a sod-cutting ceremony at Area 4, a suburb of Sunyani, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SATCCU, Mr Kwabena Adusei, said in view of the encouraging growth of the union, the current rented office space was too small for its operations.

He also said the current membership of 9,200 and staff strength of 28 made it necessary for SATCCU to build an edifice that befitted its status as a grade ‘A’ credit union in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Mr Adusei further stated that the project, estimated at GH¢600,000 and expected to be completed by the end of November 2014, would enhance the performance of the credit union and attract more members into its fold.

He added that the SATCCU’s success was due largely to the confidence and trust that people had in its operations. He, therefore, urged all stakeholders to lend their support to ensure the successful completion of the project. He also urged the contractor, Ike Construction Limited, to do quality work and on schedule.

The Sunyani Municipal Director of Co-operatives, Mr Frank Sarpong, commended the leadership of SATCCU for their bold initiative and said the edifice, when completed, would be a lasting testimony for both current and future generations.
