Man Steals Money To Perform Mother’s Funeral

A Takoradi Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced Kwadwo Aduefo, unemployed, to GHc120 fine or in default spend six months in prison in hard labour for stealing.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and pleaded for forgiveness because he stole the money to perform his deceased mother’s funeral at Winneba in the Central Region.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Veronica Tibson, told the court, presided over by Madam Afi Kudomor that the convict stole the hand bag of the complainant,

Madam Janet Adjie, containing GHc306, keys, bank withdrawal book and note book at the Takoradi Harbour Taxi Station on March 17.

However, luck run out for him when the complainant raised alarm about the missing bag and Aduefo was subsequently arrested by some Good Samaritans few metres from the taxi station.

Aduefo admitted the offence in his caution statement and was arraigned and prosecuted.
