A copyright advocate and chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Carlos Sakyi, has declared his readiness to deal with those stakeholders who are moving from one radio station to the other tarnishing his image and calling for his removal from office.

According to him, he will not sit unconcerned for unscrupulous people who have nothing to offer the music industry to undermine his hard-earned reputation.

‘I am ready to deal with them. Their lies, distortions, innuendo, subterfuge and other undermining actions will not distract me and GHAMRO board members. I will use all legitimate means to resist their chaotic agenda and consign them to the dustbin of history,’ he said.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES in his office, the copyright advocate disclosed that ‘from GHAMRO’s inception, our detractors, mostly from within our own ranks, have never given us peace to operate and bring about the transformation so critical to the survival of the music and copyright industries, which we literally rescued from the brink of disaster.’

Carlos stressed that those calling for his removal from office are not in any position to offer a credible alternative, as they have been found wanting in so many ways with some of them believed to be actively involved in internet piracy, fraud, misrepresentation and several other nefarious acts detrimental to the industry, adding ‘they refuse to be quiet and allow the ongoing transformation of the music industry to run its course.’

The outspoken chairman of GHAMRO further told BEATWAVES that for the sake of peace and unity he has been silent, hoping fervently that his enemies would realize the futility of their destabilizing agenda; an agenda doomed to fail.

He added that GHAMRO will continue in its agenda of transformation, productivity and accelerated action and give quality support to the suffering veteran star creators and any other right holder in need.

GHAMRO, he said, is here to make a difference in the lives and careers of music creators, and no force in this world can stop this advancement.
