Gambia: Otto Nagengast FC Smash Helga FC 2-0 in Village Tourney

Otto Nagengast football academy established in Sutukoba, Wuli district in the URR on Sunday had its first friendly match against the village team Helga Junior FC at the village’s main football field.

The first and ever friendly game was officiated by Lamin (Mini) Jabbi.

In the first half of the game, both teams put tremendous pressure on each other and got clear chances but which all proved fruitless thus the first half ended goalless.

In the second half, the same situation persisted until the 56th minute of the game when Laminding (Kontrao) Jabbi puts his team’s name (Nagengast) on the score sheet through a powerful shot.

Despite this progress, Nagengast Football Academy continued their struggle and a goal by Kaamo Sidia.Jaiteh doubled the score in the 59th minute.

The thrilling friendly match in which the Academy Boyz tested their strength and drilling prowess after only one year of establishment ended 2-0 in favour of Nagengast Football Academy.

Mr. Kemo Jatta, a Co. Coach of the Nagengast Academy said they were not very much surprised to have won the match, because the Academy is very organised and they had a series of training sessions to properly prepare for the game which he said proved worthwhile.

He said the Academy aims to prepare young players to feed the main Sutukoba team with the best players, so that the village team would participate in the Nawettan in Basse, etc.

Mr. Foday Jatta, Helga Junior Team, is of the view that they would be prepared for the Academy Boyz and would surely defeat them at the next match as they “are the biggest team in the village.”
