John Paintsil played full throttle in crucial Hapoel win

Ghana defender John Paintsil helped Hapoel Tel Aviv to a vital 2-1 win at Ashdod on Monday night.

The 31-year-old played the full throttle to ensure Hapoel returned to being level at the summit of the Israeli top flight with rivals Maccabi.

Hapoel recovered from a goal down to win the game through goals from Toto Tamuz and Gil Vermouth after they had gone down to a David Revivo strike.

The right-back has been playing consistently since rejoining the Israeli League at the beginning of the season.

His consistent displays is making the decision to drop him for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations increasingly difficult.

Paintsil is one of the few surviving golden generation of Black Stars players who are gradually fading out of the system.

The right back has been part of the Ghana national team setup for over 10 years – during which period he has racked up 81 caps.
