Ghana women’s league postponed to December 16

The National Women’s League will finally take-off on December 16, the Ghana Women’s League Association has announced.

The league which is considered as a huge step towards developing the women’s game was supposed to come off on Sunday November 25 but had to be delayed for three weeks due to the upcoming general elections, on December 7.

Lenier Addy, who is the Chairperson of the National Women’s League said “We have postponed it because of the elections.”

“Everything is ready and the fact that we don’t have sponsorship does not mean there is a problem, the cards are ready and all the teams have registered”.

This year’s league will have a premier division and a second-tier division in the interim. Calls for the start of the women’s league were intensified after the bronze winning performance by the Ghana Under-17 female team, the Black Princesses at the last FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan.
