Collapsed Melcom building owner bailed

Nana Boadu Nkansah Ayeboafo is facing a charge of negligence which led to the collapse of the five-storey Melcom Mall complex that killed 14 persons.

The Human Rights Court has granted the owner of the collapsed Melcom building a self-recognizance bail of five thousand Ghana cedis.

Nana Boadu Nkansah Ayeboafo is facing a charge of negligence which led to the collapse of the Achimota Melcom Mall complex that killed 14 persons.

The court Thursday adjourned the case between Nana Ayeboafo and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

The property owner has been in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) since last week.

His lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea said the judge, Justice Essel Mensah, disagreed with the decision to hold his client any further.
