Nigeria/Cameroon: Falcons Seek Consolation Against Lioness

Super Falcons take on the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon in a last effort to return home with at least a bronze medal.

Dethroned African champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria will seek to return home with a consolatory medal as they take on the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon in the third place match at the ongoing Africa Women Football Championship in Equatorial Guinea.

The Falcons were gunning for a sixth title but had their dream aborted on Wednesday when they fell 0-1 to less fancied Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

In the other semi-final match, the host nation edged out the indomitable Lioness of Cameroon to set up the final match today against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

It will be recalled that Falcons first surrendered the Africa Championship trophy in 2008 when they were beaten at the semi-finals stage by Equatorial Guinea who went on to win their first title on home soil.
