Angola: Country May Produce One Million Eggs a Day

Luanda — One million eggs/day will be produced countrywide from April 2013, said Friday the Angolan minister of Economy, Abrãao Gourgel.

The minister announced so at the end of working visit to some production centers of eggs and poultry in Viana district, Luanda.

The official said that with such production the country intends to achieve 50 percent of domestic consumption by 2015.

Abraão Gourgel also told the press that domestic production covers only about 23 percent of the consumption of eggs.

He said that to reach 50 percent by 2015, the government has adopted set of measures, both from institutional support or promotion of credit line of Angola Invest programme.

According to him, this takes into account the guarantees the programme offers so that the poultry farmers may resort to the loan in order to expand their production and attract new investors.
