THE SUNYANI West constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed disgust about what it said was the diabolic activities of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to spark confusion and mayhem in the constituency.

In a press statement issued Thursday the NPP said, “The NDC, having realized their obvious loss in the forthcoming elections, has started causing trouble in the constituency.”

The statement signed by Owusu Asamoah, Constituency Communication Director, pointed out that some known faces in the NDC had been allegedly hired to attack NPP supporters during open rallies in various parts of the constituency.

The statement explained that NPP members had been attacked twice at separate campaigns recently at Nsoatre and Chiraa without any provocation, causing serious injuries to several party people.

According to the Sunyani West NPP, on October 3, the NPP held a mini rally at the Ankobea electoral area at Nsoatre. Among other disturbances, some NDC activists hurled stones at NPP party members during the event, a development which nearly brought about commotion in the community, the statement said.

A good number of NPP members were severely beaten by the NDC thugs leading to serious injuries.

The party said further that a similar incident occurred at Chiraa on October 9 at Tanoakyi in the presence of a number of NPP dignitaries including Kwadwo Adjei-Darko, a former cabinet minister and Ignatius Baffour Awuah, MP for the area.

On this occasion, the NPP said many of its supporters were subsequently wounded saying “it’s obvious that all these diabolic activities are part of the NDC’s planned scheme to cause confusion in the constituency.”

The party has therefore issued a harsh warning to the ruling party, whose parliamentary candidate for the constituency is Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, to halt the evil schemes in the area to ensure peace.

“Should this advice be ignored, as human as we are, we cannot be stretched beyond our elastic limit in terms of patience. We wish to emphasize that as a party, we shall resist any attempt by any person or group of persons who may want to take the law into their own hands for their own parochial political interest,” the statement warned.
