Accra rocks to ‘God Dey Bless Ghana Concert’

The ‘God Dey Bless Ghana Concert’ was a perfect combination of anointed music, African poetry, oratory appellations and dance in a charged auditorium, that was certainly a befitting tribute to the buzz that was generated before the show.

‘God Dey Bless Ghana Concert’ was put together as a grand album release concert for award-winning Ghanaian music sensation, Cwesi Oteng, whose much talked about Mercy Project album has been highly anticipated. Owing to the crossover appeal of Cwesi Oteng’s music brand, more was expected of the event than usual. This notwithstanding, it lived up to expectation and even more from the perspective of both ardent and newly converted fans.

With the checks of stage design, sound, lighting and creative projections very much on point, a strong statement of the uncompromising creativity Cwesi Oteng has come to be known for, the show begun with popular gospel band, PL Crew. They served jazz tunes which bought some time to have patrons settled and ready for the show. The band’s vintage adaptation to the ‘Zapnath Paneah’ hit song was admirable.

The Conference Centre fully packed to capacity,  all was set and the grand opening followed. A war-like traditional oratory presented by the Ghana Dance Ensemble with Francis Amo on appellations heralding the King of kings created the much needed suspense that brought all patrons were on their feet in reverence. The night was still young. Next was a guest minister, the cutie Zambian princess of gospel, Penjani Ng’uni who blew the audience away with her ministration. She ministered powerfully to the audience and went into the prophetic at a point announcing peaceful elections.

Next comperes Fifi Folson (of Sunny FM) and Jeremie (of YFM) were on deck with some pleasantries before Ohemaa Mercy’s turn. Ohemaa Mercy was on fire as she took patrons through a couple of her hit songs. The auditorium was filled with dancing. Minister Danny then took things to another level with his trademark worshipful ministration. He was simply ‘More than a song’ as he showed great maturity in delivery and audience interaction!

By this time, the patrons could wait no more. Cwesi Oteng’s band,Fusion, mounted the dais smartly dressed and Cwesi must get on stage! Just when it all pointed to Cwesi coming on stage with the changed lighting works that dawned an arrival, Flo’ Riva Incorporated, Cwesi’s backing vocalists, appeared. They were spectacularly dressed in their blazer suits blending nicely with the stage set.

Cwesi Oteng joined Flo’Riva Inc., on stage and the whole auditorium went bananas amidst loud cheers. From then it was back to back hits from Cwesi Oteng as he ministered: ‘Meye Wode’, ‘Lord You Are Good’, Mercy and more, all of which were his songs and the and audience amazingly sang all through with him.  Calvis Hammond joined Cwesi Oteng to do Cwesi’s smashing reggae hit ‘Look into Your Eyes’ and it was epic!  Everyone on his feet as Cwesi sang another big tune on his Mercy Project album, ‘Love Me So’, welcoming Kingskid on the rap section of the song. It was a golden moment of the event as the patrons joined in singing the hook, ‘…you love me so, why you love me so’. Cwesi Oteng ended the show with a mind-blowing rendition of ‘Kabiyesi’ and ‘GodDeyBlessMe’. The ‘Kabiyesi’ ministration was splendid with its dance and ‘GodDeyBlessMe’ was just exceptional. The new arrangement and rap insert have given a new twist to the ‘GodDeyBlessMe’ hit song and the audience loved every bit of it rushing close to the stage to interact with the prolific singer.

The ‘GodDeyBlessGhana Concert’ was grand concert by all standards and all who attended have great reviews on their lips. All patrons took home a free CD of Cwesi Oteng’s Mercy Project album. The concert was proudly sponsored by Christian Community Micro-Finance Limited (CCML), Stratcom Africa, First Capital Plus, Global Outdoors Systems with Global Media Alliance, Sunny FM, Citi FM, Joy FM, Sweet Melodies and Happy FM as media partners and powered by Episode 7 Events and Cwesi Oteng Creations.
