Wydad is still alive !

A 3-1 win over AC Leopards on Saturday night in Casablanca keeps Wydad in the race for a semi-final spot in the Confederation Cup.

With only two points on the board after four matches, the Moroccan outfit was desperate for the three points to remain alive in this Group B, and still be able to target the top four.

And it all started well for the locals, with Ivoirian midfielder Bakary Koné opening the score on the 20th minute.

The Red and White maintain their lead until the break, and added a second goal five minutes before the hour mark, thanks to a beautiful 25 yards strike by Bakr El Hilali.

But the Congolese side fought back to 2-1 fifteen minutes later, knowing that a victory will send them to the semis alongside Malian’s Djoliba AC in this Group B.

If AC Leopards couldn’t manage to reach their target, the Wydadis found once more the back of the net in extra time, by Abderrazak Lemnasfi.

Now on five points, Mustapha Chrif’s men will aim for an away win in Bamako against Stade Malien in the final round, while hoping for a good performance by Djoliba AC in Dolisie.

The latter, certain to top Group B after AC Leopards’ defeat in Casablanca, will first host their rival Stade Malien, who have no other option than a win to keep their hopes alive, on Sunday in Bamako.
