Cicinho rejects Alves comparisons

Sevilla fullback Cicinho says he does not want to be compared to compatriot and Barcelona defender Dani Alves.

The Brazilian right-back has been in excellent form for the Sevillistas since joining from Palmeiras, but he is not happy with the constant reference to Alves, who also made his La Liga debut with Sevilla.

“I know Dani Alves personally and he is a great player, but I am different and I want to make my own history in Seville, I do not want comparisons,” Cicinho told reporters.

The 26-year-old has already built a strong partnership with right-winger Jesus Navas and he says they are always on the same page, even with the language barrier.

“Jesus is a great player; it’s easy to play with him,” said Cicinho. “We don’t quite understand each other when we speak, but when we play we understand each other’s movements very well.”

Sevilla are currently on a two-match winning streak following their big wins against Real Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna, but Cicinho believes Saturday night’s clash against Barcelona is going to be an even tougher challenge.

“To bate Barca we have to play better than we did against Madrid,” he said. “They are the log leaders and very tough opponents.”
