FC Barcelona plan €100m summer spending spree

Barcelona will reportedly look to provide incoming coach Tito Vilanova with a €100 transfer kitty to spend on new players during the summer.

Barca recently confirmed that they will have €50m to spend on new players this summer, with any additional funds to be raised by selling players.

But according to Sport, Vilanova will receive only an initial €30m for strengthening the squad this summer.

However, it is said that Barcelona officials believed they can raise another €30m by offloading several fringe players such as Seydou Keita, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and Dani Alves, who has been linked with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and big-spending Russians Anzhi Makhachkala.

Arsenal are also looking to lure Isaac Cuenca away from Camp Nou at the end of the season.

And with the Catalans looking to dominate Spain and Europe once again next season, Vilanova’s transfer kitty will also be boosted by the departure of Pep Guardiola as coach, who will be off the wage bill when he steps down at the end of the season.

Valencia defender Jordi Alba and Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente are believed to be Barca’s top summer transfer targets, although they are still thought to be keen on Tottenham winger Gareth Bale and will consider a move for Robin van Persie should the Arsenal captain indicate he wants to leave Emirates Stadium this summer.
