The New Patriotic Party [NPP] has denied rumours of abolishing the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) should it come to power after the December elections.
In a statement released and signed by the party’s National Chairman, the NPP under the Kufuor administration, “worked tirelessly on the policy framework and modalities from 2006 and had prepared for implementation by early 2009”, thus it is untrue that the NPP would seek to end the pay policy.
There were rumours that the newly named running mate of the party’s flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said the NPP would abolish the new pay policy should they come into power but the NPP has flatly denied this.

Our attention has been drawn to news in a section of the media about an abolishing of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) when the NPP is elected.
We wish to categorically state that the government of President J.A. Kufour worked tirelessly on the policy framework and modalities from 2006 and had prepared for implementation by early 2009.
When a new government was elected they suspended implementation for a year.
It cannot be true that any individual or the NPP will think of abolishing such a noble initiative that seeks to restructure and streamline our salary scheme, for people to be paid for work done and dignify work for our country’s working population.
It is therefore not possible for anyone on the Akufo-Addo 2012 team to abolish the scheme, God willing when victory is secured at the 2012 polls.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, our Running Mate for 2012, an astute economist of international repute knows the benefits of the SSSS. He has never said that the SSSS will be abolished.
The penchant of our opponents to throw dust in the eyes of the Ghanaian public and waging a campaign of lies, insults and fabrication continues.
We are fully prepared to make sure that we tell the people of this country the truth. Political power will not be sacrificed on the altar of deceit.
We want to assure all Ghanaians and most especially workers who have been migrated and those who are yet to, that a new NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamud Bawumia will work in the interest of not just the SSSS but also personal development and appraisal of our work force.
What we believe in is prosperity for all.
