The three suspects alleged to have hijacked and killed Soomeshan Govender appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
John Phineas Vezi, 42, Sihle Nzimande, 29, and Bongani Mnguni, 29, have been charged with murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The matter was adjourned to April 4 for a bail application.
Govender’s body was found at the side of a road and taken to the Scottburgh mortuary a few hours after he had been reported missing.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge, said a post-mortem revealed Govender had sustained a stab wound to his arm and blunt force trauma to his head.
KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended police for the swift arrest. – Daily News
